What else is there to do in Shinjuku except consume?  Well, some people go up skyscrapers to have a look around.  The view faces northeast toward the neighbourhoods of Iidebashi and Ikebukuro

Groupies of the film Lost in Translation may come up here to the Hyatt rooftop bar like Bill Murray and Scarlett Johanssen to peer out over Shinjuku and gaze at lamps reflected in the windows .

The 7 hour slow overnight walk up to the crater lip of Fuji-san from the Kawaguchi Gogome (5th station) is as interesting for witnessing the thousands of climbers accompanying you as for the actual sunrise views.  The last segment would normally take 30 minutes to walk, but in fact took about two hours due to the heavy traffic congestion on the trails.  Every morning in the summer climbing season is like this.
